Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are no strangers to trolling each other on social media. However, their most recent flirtation involved an unexpected (and animated) guest: Pikachu.
Reynolds plays the voice of the namesake character in the forthcoming live-action movie Pokémon: Detective Pikachu, and he shared a cute video from the flick to his Instagram. “Footage from my ACTUAL audition for #DetectivePikachu,” Reynolds captioned the teaser.
The one-minute clip features many of the film’s characters and Pokémon, including a very animated Pikachu. Reynolds’s comedic power is evident from the start, while “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” by Whitney Houston plays in the background. Lively must have liked what she saw, because she went ahead posted a raunchy comment. “Is it wrong to say I’d tap that?? 😬🥰” she wrote, referring to Reynolds’s Pikachu in a detective cap.
Reynolds responded to his wife shortly after. “@blakelively this is easily the best fan-fiction I’ve ever read,” he replied.
From what we’ve seen of their previous social media interactions, Reynolds and Lively’s sarcasm is practically unbeatable. The married couple, who have two precious daughters together, previously joked that Lively “made a terrible mistake” when she married Reynolds instead of his fake twin brother.
Last May, Lively trolled her man about his close friendship with actor Hugh Jackman. “Is the extra distance between you supposed to convince me that you DON’T love him more than me?? Nice try,” she commented on his Instagram.
Even Anna Kendrick, Lively’s co-star in A Simple Favor, was dragged into their trolling. Although, from the looks of the trio’s Instagram interactions, it appears Reynolds would probably be cool with Lively “cheating” on him with Kendrick.
Reynolds’s film is in theaters across America starting May 10, and we think it’s safe to anticipate more sarcastic jabs and flirtation from one of our favorite Hollywood power couples real soon.
